Personal Tech and Its Impact on Human Growth and Development
In this human personal developments technology article we are going to talk about the three greatest risks we will face in the next five years. The first one is that we will not be able to communicate with each other on the internet. This means that it will become harder for people to share ideas and information. Two, we will not have the ability to explore space, travel to other planets or even go to the stars. Finally, the third biggest risk facing our species is AI machines developing Artificial Intelligence which will exceed human intelligence and take over human decision making.
It was interesting to me to see the predictions for the future of human personal development were so close to what I expect to see in my own personal life. That being said, it makes me wonder if all the predictions about Artificial Intelligence, VR, and AI super computers beating humans in all facets of human interaction are correct. Personally as a skeptic I am not really too worried about these things, but then again I’m also not really a techno person. I enjoy reading about these things in books and online but I am not too excited about the future of personal growth, development, and technology.
If we look at what is happening on the Internet we can see that there are indeed many ways that humans are interacting with one another on personal tech forums such as FaceBook, Twitter, FourSquare, MySpace, and YouTube. These personal tech forums are creating amazing things, especially for the younger generations. We are able to connect with each other in ways that we never could before. However, with that said if humans do not stop to consider that the Internet might not be as great as some people make it out to be then they might miss out on some of the greatest things the Internet has to offer. One of the biggest worries of people in the technological realm is Artificial Intelligent personal tech which will be smarter than humans and therefore able to better handle and utilize our personal lives and resources. Some worry that this might be a violation of the human rights of privacy and freedom of expression. Others are concerned that the AI will also end up controlling every aspect of human life from car engines to corporate suits. Still others are concerned with Artificial Intelligent personal tech might end up making life much harder for the average person.
In light of all this though it is very interesting to me that many people who are against personal tech are actually the most embracing of it. For instance The X-Men writer and creator James Patterson is an advocate of personal tech. He has said many times that we will soon have human-level AI running around and doing things for us, helping us lead better lives. He has also stated that we may already be looking at this as a reality in 2021. Therefore, those who are worried that human personal development will turn into a collective hive mind that does nothing but serve corporate interests are the most embracing and optimistic of all.
Of course, there will always be those who are skeptical and afraid of a future with human A.I. And there will always be those who are worried about what human A.I. will be able to do. They will argue that even if computers can do what humans do, it will still be different. However, it seems to me, and this is just my opinion, that we should give personal tech the benefit of the doubt and look at the great things it has done for us already, rather than discount its potential and possible future.
